Our history
Studio Traduc was founded in Bozen / Bolzano back in 1967 by Hendrik van den Driesch. Born in 1919 in Mechelen (near Antwerp, Belgium), Hendrik studied Sociology and Economics at the University of Ghent (B) and then at the University of Strassbourg with the goal of obtaining a doctorate in Political Science. But World War II prevented him from completing his objective. After the war, he moved to Tyrol, where he worked as an interpreter for the U.S. and French military governments. He later began working for a publishing house in Innsbruck. In 1959, he moved to South Tyrol. In 1967, he founded our translation agency. Additionally, he was a member of the Alpine Rescue organization and a translator/interpreter for the IKAR (International Commission for Alpine Rescue).
With Hendrik’s passing in July of 1999, Karin Simeoni (who had already been working with him as a free lancer) assumed charge of the company. Karin Simeoni grew up in a bilingual household on the language border between the provinces of Bolzano and Trento. She majored in Foreign Languages (German, Russian, and English) at the University of Trento. After lengthy stays in the Netherlands and Russia in the context of her studies, she
completed a specialized course of training in Literary Translation in Bozen / Bolzano. In subsequent years, she completed further certifications and acquired professional experience in the field of translation and printing with various local newspapers. Before assuming control of the company in 1999, she worked as a free lance translator for Russian, Italian, and Dutch.
No translation agency in the entire region has a longer history or more experience than Studio Traduc. For more than half a century, our company has helped to promote clear communication between people, cultures, and companies. We have helped to overcome barriers and boundaries, assisted in business negotiations, and paved the way for successfully concluding important transactions between domestic and international business partners in South Tyrol.
